Luis Chavez Reyes

Chicago silversmith Luis Chavez Reyes has been making work with silver since he was a child growing up in Mexico. He prefers not to use precious stones or other traditional materials in his work because it distracts from the intricate silver work used in each piece. Instead, he often incorporates coffee beans and beads. Aside from silver, Luis also transforms paper and junk mail flyers that would otherwise be discarded into beautiful rings that bear little resemblance to their original form. He continues to live and work in Chicago's Pilsen and Little Village neighborhoods.
